Minimum
of 6 hours sun a day (morning sun preferred)
Plant in well-drained soil.
When planting, add bonemeal or 8:1:5 or Superphosphate to soil.
Plant away from walls (roses need a lot of air and wind)
Don’t plant under dripping gutters as this may cause root rot.
When you decide to remove roses and replace with another in the same
place, remove the ‘old’ soil to a depth of 45cm by 1m. Roses emit
certain toxic elements which must be removed before planting new ones.
Remove dead flowers to encourage new growth. New flowers will be
produced after about 42 days.
Ensure you give your roses enough water, especially in high
temperatures.
Construct a ‘dam’ around the rose bush to keep water close to roots.
Cover surface with mulch, reducing water-evaporation.
Happy planting!
